Why the old totals are not shown
A completed redundancy, a consultation notice, a target “by 2030,” a press estimate and a nationwide forecast are different observations. Adding them can double-count people and turn planned reductions into events that have already happened.
The replacement ledger will require a direct source URL, announcement or observation date, affected geography, status, reporting period and a canonical event identity for every row. AI causation will be recorded as an attributed claim, not inferred from surrounding automation language.
Current source-backed UK data
The dedicated UK labour-market page publishes current ONS vacancies and a validated REC release with explicit dates. Its unverifiable legacy AI-redundancy rows have also been quarantined.
Status: legacy aggregate claims withheld on 24 August 2026. No UK people-total is published here until the event ledger can be reconciled without forecasts, aliases or overlapping coverage.
