Amazon is cutting 16,000 human beings while AWS — the same company — grows 24%. The stated reason is "corporate role consolidation," a euphemism so anaemic it refuses to even name what's actually consolidating: AI is replacing these humans permanently. The growth context makes this worse, not better. They are NOT trimming due to hardship; they are harvesting productivity gains from AI while jettisoning the humans who used to generate that value.
